When All Is Said & Done

"His new series "We're All Gonna Die" consists of a variety of headstones with the last words spoken immediately before or after the moment of death. The foreboding tone of the piece is quickly dissolved upon reading the satirical comments engraved for eternity..." More here.

ARTISTS WHO USE TEXT TO SAY NICE THINGS.

There couldn't possibly be a more fitting exhibition for Sighn to be involved in than ARTISTS WHO USE TEXT TO SAY NICE THINGS. Curated by Aaron Krach out of his Manhattan apartment, his words sum it up nicely:

"I decided to curate an exhibition that would capture a similar feeling of generosity and selflessness. I wanted a show that features art that makes people feel better. No satire or irony or jokey puns allowed. Only pure pleasure and goodness. Uplift. Like therapy without the co-pay.

The artists in this show are very special. They fill their drawings and paintings and sculpture with kindness and a sense of giving. I am sure they approach their lives the same way. I know that spending time with their work has filled me with pleasure. It has made me smile. It has changed my life."

Ervin Possibly Out of Retirement?

Ervin Orion will have a piece in the upcoming exhibition at famed Rotofugi Gallery (1953-55 W. Chicago Ave. Chicago, IL 60622). Rumor has it, there are a few other things in the works for this draftsman...We were curious what could possibly pull him out of retirement. Don't hang his jersey on the wall just yet.

Trevor Reese at Believe Inn

With autumn arriving, Believe Inn announces its final exhibition of 2009. The "Out Of Towners" Season wraps up with an installation by Brooklyn artist Trevor Reese. Reese will be renting a Uhaul truck, carting a site specific installation to Chicago, that has been produced in his lair under extreme secrecy. Be sure to stop by on Saturday, and share one last drink in short sleeves, saying farewell to one heck of a summer.

Itsokadia Bliss

Jill Bliss was in town for the Renegade Craft Fair, and stopped by Sighn's Itsokadia booth.

She also had a chance to stop by his studio and say hello. You can see her Flickr Set here.
